Learning to Take Advice for a Better Life

Learning to take advice can make all the difference. There are many people in our lives that are willing to help us, but the problem is, some people are completely unwilling to take another person's advice - no matter how sincerely helpful and competent the advice may be. Some people suffer from stubbornness and don't listen to others, and absolutely refuse to take advice. They believe the best advice is: Don't take advice and don't give advice!

But you could be throwing away valuable shortcuts to success by refusing what other people are freely offering. The next time someone gives you a piece of advice and your impulse is not to take it - stop and consider whether the advice is what you need or not. If the advice is good, make sure you tell the person that you think it's great. Make the other person happy for giving the advice. You'll be glad you did.

Just make sure you filter the advice you receive; there is a lot of bad advice out there. The best advice to take is from people who are successful and positive in their outlook. You should open yourself to ideas from others as to how things can be done, or done better - as long as you take on board what has a real resonance with your own heart.

Advice may pertain to relationships, business / personal goals, legal matters, career choices, personal development and so on. Advice can be freely given or only given when asked for. If you have a problem that needs solving, it's well worth listening to advice from different people to help you decide which advice to follow.

I will leave you with some sage advice from Sculptor Henry Moore, "Happiness is to be fully engaged in the activity that you believe in, and if you are very good at it, well that's a bonus". This is great advice and something I try to follow every day of my life!
